Ubud, Bali, June 16, 2025 – In a vibrant prelude to International Yoga Day on June 21, Om Ham Retreat & Resort today hosted a heartwarming yoga session with elementary school students at SD No. 6 Tegallalang. The event, brimming with energy and youthful enthusiasm, was personally led by Mrs. Sawitri, Managing Director of Om Ham Retreat & Resort.
Om Ham Retreat & Resort, renowned for its deep roots in yoga, particularly its distinctive Kundalini Tantra Yoga lineage from Master Ketut Arsana, views this initiative as more than just a celebration. “Yoga is the very core of our resort’s philosophy. Commemorating International Yoga Day by engaging with young children is paramount, as instilling positive habits like yoga is most effective when nurtured from an early age,” stated Mrs. Sawitri, highlighting the resort’s commitment to holistic well-being.

The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive reception from Mr. I Wayan Subaga, Principal of SD No. 6 Tegallalang. Expressing profound gratitude, he remarked, “The children’s enthusiasm was truly remarkable. Even those not participating were eagerly asking, ‘When will it be our turn to do yoga?'” Responding to this eager curiosity, Ms. Ayu Pradnyan, Human Resources Coordinator at Om Ham Retreat & Resort, who meticulously organized the event, affirmed her commitment to ensuring the program’s continuity, aiming to extend its benefits to more students in the future.
Mrs. Sawitri’s yoga session was far from conventional. She transformed the class into an engaging, interactive experience, filled with laughter and even subtle English language lessons. Children enthusiastically picked yoga cards and playfully mimicked poses like ‘helicopter’ and ‘bee’, while learning their English names. Each movement was simplified with relatable analogies—standing “strong like a tree swaying in the wind” or “firm as a majestic mountain”—making yoga both accessible and captivating for the young participants.
The event concluded with a delightful gesture of generosity. Om Ham Retreat & Resort distributed special goodie bags filled with study supplies and healthy, delectable snacks, including pudding and fresh edamame prepared by Tulsi Eatery & Coffee, the resort’s acclaimed restaurant. Three bright and eager children also took home exciting door prizes after confidently answering questions and demonstrating yoga poses.
Beyond the immediate joy, Om Ham Retreat & Resort extended its support for education by donating a new library bookshelf to SD No. 6 Tegallalang. “We hope this bookshelf will be continuously filled with new books, broadening the horizons of these children, not just in science, but also in the equally vital knowledge of physical well-being through practices like yoga,” Mrs. Sawitri concluded, looking to the future with optimism.
Happy International Yoga Day! May this spirit of wellness and community continue to inspire us all.
